SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
Somerset Basketball League Policy:
1. The SBL shall award up to $1,000.00 in scholarships
annually.
2. Applicants must be in the present year's high school
graduating class.
3. The scholarships shall be for one year.
4. The scholarships shall be designated a merit
scholarship.
5. Academic criteria and citizenship will be utilized, not
financial aid.
6. The applicant must have completed, at a minimum, one
year of participation in the Somerset Basketball League.
7. A scholarship committee of three members of the SBL
shall be appointed annually by the President of the SBL.
8. The following point system shall be used to screen
applications for the purpose of choosing recipients:
— Academic record: 45
— Essay: 45
— Extracurricular activities/work: 10
Instructions:
1. Application is to be completed and
signed by the applicant.
2. Attach the following to the completed application:
— Transcript of courses completed
— An essay describing how your participation in the
Somerset Basketball League benefited you and what impact,
if any, this participation has had upon you as you finish
your high school career and look ahead to entering college.
Essay should be typed with a word count of at least 250
words and no more than 500 words.
